Lady of leisure... Give me some of that!

Today I got called ‘a lady of leisure’. Sure, why not! Let’s dissect this double-barreled statement.

When I was traveling and working I found no satisfaction in sitting indoors all day in a boring job to repeat it all over again while wishing for the weekend.

There’s no point in debating this to people that see only one side to the word ‘work’. I promised myself I was going to me my own boss. So now I work on a schedule that actually suits me, I can enjoy the daytime and work at night, I don’t wear suits, and I work close to home. Its a great setup. I’ve taken a risk most people don’t because of their fear of failure.

Coming back to the meaning behind that phrase - it implies that ‘I don’t need to earn a living’. I’m not one to say that I’m privileged, but I always found that phrase to mean relaxation and laziness - things that I’d like to have more of. I have this mental picture of myself with a cocktail by the pool...

Its actually interesting to note how we perceive phrases. Some people are positive about that statement, others find it negative. I’m in-between. Why not have both?

I actually enjoy what I’m doing to the point that it doesn’t feel like work, and it makes me money. Its just your point of view. Thats my two cents.

I’ll be setting up a newsletter next month so stay tuned for that.
